An unfortunate fact of our lives is that some times, bad things do happen to good people. Each day, there are people who discover that their life will never be the same because of an accident or an illness. One particular example is a cancer diagnosis. No one wants to hear that word and it can be traumatic to the person as well as the people who love them the most. Then you get into cancer treatments, which can also be a lot to deal with. Our suggestion is to put a little faith in arts and crafts for a cure.
Why Arts and Crafts?
One of the absolute worst things a person can do after being diagnosed with some type of illness is to sit back and just think about the diagnosis. If you do this, you will dwell and it will likely set you back more than push you forward. You should find something you love and enjoy doing. For many, it is the desire to start a new hobby or push forward on something that they enjoy. By doing this, your mind will be less focused on the treatments and more focused on what makes you feel like yourself.
Depending on your diagnosis, you may want to travel for the first time ever. You may want to visit family members you don’t see often. For most people, the idea of arts and crafts is one of the best. It is a good, safe distraction from whatever you have going on in your world.
Picking the Right Creative Release
“When life hands you lemons, make lemonade.” This old saying means that no matter what life hands you, we can spin it around into something good. There may not be much good about what you are going through right now, but you can still make it better. You could take up painting, woodworking, knitting, or numerous other projects. They will take your mind off the stressful stuff and give you a reason to breathe when you may be feeling overwhelmed otherwise.
We have known people that get into woodworking and create gifts for those that they love. Using thick pour epoxy resin, they create river tables and learn how to tackle casting. They create jewelry. Others who have no interest in that type of crafting will settle on other things because it brings peace to a troubled mind. The truth is, there is no “right” for everyone. You simply have to choose something that you love.
We Wish You the Best!
Whether you choose to do arts, crafts, or something completely different, we encourage you to find something. Something wonderful that can make you see beyond whatever troubles you are facing today. We do not care whether it is an illness, loss, or some other personal tragedy. The worst advice would be to sit. As long as there is breath in your body and laughs in your eyes, you can find a reason to believe you will get beyond this tragedy. We believe in that and wish you the best while you are reaching the other side of “this” problem.
